Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Dangerous times” (November 28). The problem of children exhibiting perverse behavior is universal and the main reason is the general decline in moral values combined with the attitude that children should not be admonished if they do something wrong. A child requires both parental and teacher guidance and also punishment if s/he does wrong. I don’t support the theory that even the mildest punishment affects the child adversely, as children we were disciplined both at home and in school and it didn’t have any adverse effect or leave any scars on our psyche
