Sir — This refers to the report “Janta Darbar goes awry amid fear of stampede” (January 12). The chaos at Mr Arvind Kejriwal’s first Janata Darbar and the Chief Minister’s hasty retreat from the event shows the new Delhi administration’s lack of maturity and foresight.
The Aam Aadmi Party should discard its plans of contesting the general election. National-level governance is different from ruling a State, and there are complicated and sensitive issues — including international relations, border security and national economy — at stake.
The AAP will probably not even emerge as the king-maker. It will only split votes and produce a weak mandate at a time when the country needs a stable Government led by a strong leader. The AAP should concentrate on Delhi, try its hand at other State elections and then go for the Centre in 2019.
