Spare Army

Published on:

Sir — The Opposition has breached the long-standing tradition of keeping the Army away from politics by politicising the surgical strikes across the line of Control in Parliament. On November 30, the Opposition created a ruckus, demanding both Houses condole the death of our soldiers who were killed during the surgical strikes across the border, and those in killed in the Nagrota attack.

Thousands of soldiers were killed while defending our borders and in terrorist attacks earlier. Also, hundreds of farmers committed suicide during the Congress rule. Did Parliament condole those deathsIJ

Obviously, the new demand has a political motive. The loss of life of our soldiers is a national tragedy. Every heart in the country bleeds when a soldier is killed. Political parties must keep the Army away from politics and desist from making political capital out of the supreme sacrifices of our soldiers.
