Sir — October 4-10 is celebrated as World Space Week to acknowledge the contributions of space science. An interesting fact is that 4th century Tamil/Indian poet Auvaiyar’s poem: “What we have learned Is like a handful of earth; What we have yet to learn Is like the whole world” is exhibited in NASA. Some may claim that money spent on space missions could be used to uplift the life of poor. But investment in space science is like a gold mine where mining has just begun. It needs patience and foresight to see the long-term benefits.
