Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Case of missing coal files” (August 21). The Congress-led UPA Government seems to have mastered the art of manipulation of just about everything.
The latest episode of crucial files relating to the coal block allotment scam going missing or being conveniently ‘misplaced’ seems like an attempt to drag the investigations for another 30 years, as has been done in the case of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence .
Also, it makes sense to store files in fire/tamper-proof vaults and have responsible officers designated for access to them. A few years ago, in Gurgaon, a fire was reported to have engulfed a stack of files in a HUDA officer’s vehicle, which was very convenient for everyone concerned!
