Soon forgotten

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “So near and yet so far” (February 15). That the Sasikala case burst on this nation in an hitherto unequalled crescendo, underscores the axiom that the wheels of justice grinds slowly, but surely.

The hope that this incident would write a new chapter against crony politics has been promptly belied by MlAs, who have seemingly rejected O Panneerselvam, to embrace the dictats of a parvenu, Chinnamma!

Sadly, Jayalalithaa has been forgotten. This comes at a time when earlier, the fate and now the law, has remorselessly dealt with Amma.

Our politics cannot evolve and the judge can only record pious hopes of its emancipation in his judgement. On the other hand, citizens too will abandon his crusade in a meek surrender to wily politicians.
