Sir — There has been much hullabaloo over a series of videos posted by a Border Security Force jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav about the troops going hungry due to malpractices. The jawan has requested that this video be shared by everyone so that it gets media attention.
This message, he said, should be heard in newsrooms across the country as a message of grief. Martyrdom is not the only time to respect or pay tribute to a jawan. The many sacrifices he makes before that should be noted. But it’s a pity that the media speaks about the soldier only at the time of his martyrdom.
Politics aside, if a soldier has to implore the Prime Minister for basic daily meals, perhaps the meal plans need a little re-looking. This isn’t asking for much. Coupled with unforgiving weather conditions, an empty stomach isn’t pleasant.
