Sir — BJP president Rajnath Singh recently claimed that English is bad for India. In his opinion, the English language has caused great loss to India by eroding our culture, values and perceptions.
It is unfortunate that these days, politicians across the board find it expedient to politicise every issue and subject under the sun. On the issue of erosion of our values, one would like to point out that this is happening not because of English or any other language, but because of falling morality and honesty in our lives. Ethics, honesty, probity in public and private life are today forgotten virtues.
