Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Tasks before Amit Shah” (January 26). The second term for BJP president Amit Shah is going to be far more challenging than the first one. The foremost challenge for him is to make the BJP’s presence felt in the States that are going to vote this year. Second, he has to reshuffle his party office-bearers. Third, he should take the advice of senior leaders rather than neglect them.
Having said this, the Modi-Shah combination remains the best bet for the ruling party. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Shah share an excellent rapport. Mr Shah is a smart politician and knows how to play his cards well. The BJP needs to shore up its number in the upper House, hence the upcoming State elections are crucial for the party.
