This refers to the editorial, “No longer closet ties” (November 18). The India-Israel relationship is one which has stood the test of time, despite the many challenges it has faced right since its inception in 1992. India’s strong support to the Palestinian cause and ties with West Asia have not affected its growing partnership with Israel, a country which has gone out of its way to enhance trade, defence and diplomatic relations with India in good faith.
It is a testimony to India’s successful diplomacy, and especially, the able stewardship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that has enabled a positive turnaround in India’s image abroad, and a renewed faith in India’s development and leadership potential. The recent visit of President Reuven Rivlin, with an aim to further deepen our relationship, is another feather in the cap of India-Israel ties. Undoubtedly, sky is the limit for the ‘Incredible India’ story to gain stock.
