Sir — This refers to the editorial, “One outrageous demand!” (April 15). I endorse the view of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s call that Indian Muslims should be disenfranchised is absurd, sad and ironic. Revoking Muslims’ right to vote is against the Constitution which guarantees equal rights, along with the right to vote to all Indians across the religious spectrum. Mr Raut’s effort to put his remark in a context to justify that, what he said was to slam the politics of appeasement, is yet another mistake. Appeasement politics is not targeted at Muslims alone. The Shiv Sena must stop its Muslim-bashing.
