Sick thinking

Published on:

Sir — The horror of the Nirbhaya case refuses to die even two years after the incident. The audacious comments made by Mukesh Singh, one of the brutal rapists and murderers of Nirbhaya, that the victim should have allowed the rape to happen instead of resisting the rapists, must now open up the eyes of all those activists who feel that such criminals will mend their ways if they were given a light sentence and offered a chance to reform. Some analysts even want to look sympathetically into their socio-economic conditions to explain away their brutal behaviour.

Instead of banning a documentary on the case or blaming the judiciary for delays, let the activists and others have a re-think on letting off such culprits lightly.
