This refers to the editorial, “IPl, water crisis and more” (April 14). The Supreme Court’s order to shift many Indian Premier league matches, scheduled to be held in Maharashtra, out of this drought-hit State, is welcome, but why should the apex court intervene into matters that should be best taken care of by the GovernmentIJ It is shameful that the court has to step into such matters by diverting its energy and attention from core issues. Obviously, the amount of water used for the preparation of ground will not solve the problem, but at times, perception plays a bigger role than reality. IPl organisers and players could have donated a part of their earnings to help the drought-hit people.
