Sir — The Copa America final, especially the last 15 minutes of the extra time, was a fierce battle between Argentina and Chile. However, the game was not as thrilling as expected. Over reaction of the referee, who showed several yellow cards and two red cards, many of which were unwarranted, diminished the charm of the game.
Though Argentina anticipated victory in the match with much anxiety it hoped to script a much-awaited championship under the stewardship of lionel Messi, but he could not rise to the occasion.
His miserable failure to score in the penalty shoot-out shattered the hopes of Argentina though both the teams were more or less equal in their performance and the goal-keepers too played a vital role in the match. Chile has finally retained the cup, Messi will have to face an awkward situation back home.
