Shamed again

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “The heart of terrorism” (December 6). The editorial has aptly talked about the Heart of Asia summit, which concluded in Amritsar on Sunday, where Pakistan was cornered yet again as a state-sponsor of terrorism.

Pakistan-based terror outfits like the lashkar-e-Tayyeba and the Jaish-e-Mohammed were specifically named. They operate from Pakistan’s soil. The naming was done in presence of Sartaj Aziz, who is virtually Pakistan’s Foreign Minister. Even Iran, which had until now supported Pakistan on several occasions, didn’t object. While China was the missing factor, Russia was muted.

The Pakistani Government, the military and the Inter-Services Intelligence can no longer hide their complicity as an epicenter of terrorism in the South Asian region. Its manipulation in coordination with several interested parties can no longer come to Pakistan’s rescue. It’s time for Islamabad to change its nefarious ways, now that it is isolated and exposed.
