This refers to the editorial, “People's trust betrayed” (March 6). The sacking of Mr Yogendra Yadav and Mr Prashant Bhushan from the Political Affairs Committee of the Aam Aadmi Party may not diminish the AAP's larger support base, but it will definitely dent the image of the party. Both are intellectuals who have contributed significantly in shaping the party's ideology from day one. The 8-11 verdict against Mr Yadav and Mr Bhushan shows the two had their backers. It is surprising that Mr Arvind Kejriwal is promoting the very same high command culture he repeatedly used as a subject to ridicule the Congress. AAP's thrust on democracy now looks to be a sham.
It appears that Mr Kejriwal is loath to have senior members with independent minds in the party's think-tank. He also seems disinterested in grooming second-line leaders in the party who can take the AAP forward in the days to come.
