Separatists rule

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Omar regime capitulates” (August 4). There is no doubt that the separatists of Kashmir valley are out to disturb the Kausar Nag yatra.

The Pandits of Kashmir are taking out the procession for the first time and it is the duty of the Jammu & Kashmir Government to ensure that hardliners such as Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who are opposed to the pilgrimage, are dealt with an iron hand. 

Unfortunately, that is not happening. Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who represents Udhampur constituency in Parliament, has promised to look into the matter. But the primary duty rests with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Will he ensure that nobody is allowed to disturb the yatra, even as it goes through a different routeIJ
