Senseless talk

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “UPA thali for one rupee” (July 29).

The suggestion that leaders of the Congress and the UPA regime must open a chain of eateries across the country to provide wholesome meals at one rupee a plate or five rupee a plate or Rs 12 a plate is right, especially when senior leaders of the party are talking insanely that one can have one’s fill in a rupee. But what is worth pondering is: If these leaders and their Government can satiate the hunger of the poor in one rupee or even Rs 12 a plate, why do they want to continue with their Right to Food legislation and squander lakhs of crores of rupees on the project.

Yes, our leaders are hallucinating. Only God knows what malady has striken these leaders and made them babble so awkwardly. Their vision of poverty and development is not only unrealistic and lacks sanity, but it is also a crude joke on the poor of the country.
