This refers to the editorial, “Unpardonable conduct” (March 25). Close on the heels of a high ranked officer being upbraided publicly in Uttar Pradesh by outgoing Minister Azam Khan, comes the startling case of a Shiv Sena MP, Ravindra Gaikwad, who went far ahead to beat an Air India staffer publicly. The MP was peeved over being provided an economy class seat, despite having a business class ticket.
Just a day earlier, when a lone terrorist killed a few people outside the British Parliament, before himself being gunned down, a Conservative Party MP, Tobaris Elwood, played a good samaritan and tried to resuscitate a victim and remained seated with him until the rescue team arrived at the spot, albeit the victim could not be saved. Air India and other airlines have taught Gaikwad a lesson by not allowing him space on their flight to Pune. The Speaker of the lok Sabha, and Shiv Sena chief Udhav Thackrey in particular, should take strict action against the flippant MP.
