This refers to the report, “Stalin praises Swamy, surprises all” (January 25). Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader MK Stalin’s sudden and new-found admiration for BJP leader Subramanian Swamy is attributable neither to Mr Swamy’s well-established legal acumen, nor the long list of his achievements.
Actually, it should not be surprising at all because it is Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s predicament in her court cases that has inspired Mr Stalin’s fulsome praise for Mr Swamy. Mr Stalin has merely invoked the old Panchatantra principle of ‘enemy of my enemy is my friend’, and he was perhaps only hoping for a spirited pursuit of the case from Mr Swamy, to help his own cause.
