Sir — This refers to the article, “Thank you, Pranabda, for the conversation” (June 27) by Manmohan Vaidya. Confusion can arise if someone says that a particular person is the great son of Mother India and then simultaneously give a speech that indicates why that person’s path is not at all suitable for India.
This is exactly what Pranab Mukherjee seems to have done in the speech at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur. And even though, I am neither a gourmand nor a food connoisseur, if steam hilsa (tenualosa ilisha) is used as an icing on a fruit-cake then I am afraid, it is perhaps not worth eating.
