Whereas the Union Government has come up with the Prevention of Cruelty to animals (Regulation of livestock markets) Rules 2017, and notified it on May 23 as a step against the menace of cow slaughter, by being true to its commitment towards cow protection throughout the country, the reaction of the Kerala Congress towards the order is not only unpleasant but cruel too.
Slaughtering a cow publicly, making a video of the event and uploading it on the social media speaks volumes about the inhuman and cruel approach of the Congress when it comes to playing with the sentiments of the majority of Indians. If this is secularism, it needs to be kicked out of India. If this is the way to agitate, the agitators must be severely punished. And if this is the politics of the Congress, the Election Commission should cancel the registration of the party without delay.
The media and the law enforcing agencies, including the courts which have been vocal against the cow vigilantes, should make all efforts to book the criminals and their supporters and make sure that they get the harshest punishment. Organisations such as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the liberals who cried foul over a leg injury to a horse are sure to remain silent, but the Hindus must not take kindly towards this incident.
