Sir — This refers to the article, “Don’t tie the Army to red tape” (August 20) by Kunal Verma. Institutional integrity is at the core of professional management of any activity. This is more so in the Armed Forces where a soldier follows the orders of his commanding officer without a demur. Only those who have gone through this process of giving the command and obeying it, will appreciate this. It is a fact that the institutional integrity of the Armed Forces in general and the Army in particular is now at a low. The writer has delineated this point well and rather bluntly, but that is needed to get the message across forcefully.
