Sane advise

Published on:
Sir — The Dalai lama said, “The purpose of religion is to control yourself, not to criticise others”. It is a good piece of advise and must be inscribed in golden letters. In the name of religion, people are not controlling themselves but are competing with each other to show that the dharma they follow is supreme to the other. The competition is to increase the number of followers of one faith against the other. In pursuit of this goal, proselytization through inducements and threats is going on clandestinely. It is widely believed that every religion has one goal ie to do good and to be good. The quintessence of religions has been unfortunately thrown to winds. If every one imbibes the advise of great personalities like Vivekananda, the Dalai lama and such the term violence disappears from dictionary.
