Sir — This refers to the article, “Beguiled we are not, by these mai-baaps” (September 5) by Gautam Mukherjee. I can’t understand why the Government need bother with ‘objective’ reporting. The Indian media, by and large, has always been supportive of the Congress, or perhaps one should say the incumbent Government. Switch on to any news channel — the opinions and the discussions are starkly similar, jaded and lacking in depth.
Worse, most debates look suspiciously stage-managed. One wonders why there are so few whistleblowers from within the journalists’ community. For a free-thinking person (with too much time on his hands), the one-sided discussions offer little stimulation or food for thought.
