Saga of two Srinivasans

Published on:
Sir — What a coincidence it was this week: One Srinivasan made India proud in the US as a top judge while another Srinivasan put India in an embarrassing situation on account of cricket-related controversies involving his club and a close relation.
Top Chennai Super Kings official and BCCI chief’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan’s midnight arrest in Mumbai ought to have killed any hope the Board of Control for Cricket in India president, Mr N Srinivasan, must have nursed of hanging on to his position. Though the BCCI chief has brazenly refused to resign, he must be asked to relinquish office, as there is a clear case of conflict of interest in the ongoing controversy.
He simply cannot brush away the controversy.
