Sir — The horrendous fire incident in Delhi’s Bawana industrial area reminds us that India is still far behind the developed countries in maintaining safety measures at industrial areas and at work places. This fire incident must serve as a wake up call for the relevant authorities and propell them to decongest the capital city and at the same time reduce pollution.
Sadly, hardly any inspection by relevent agencies was done. Unfortunately fire safety norms have seldom been a priority in India. In recent past there have been far too many fire incidents in country, leading to loss of human lives and damage to property.
But lessons have not been learnt. Authorities wake up only after a large-scale tragedy takes place. It is time that the Governmnet wakes up and in order to prevent such tragedies.
