This refers to the report, “Muzaffarnagar boiling with rage, 10 more die” (September 9). The unabated riots in this town and the State’s inability to quell the violence is a pointer that politics in Uttar Pradesh is deeply communalised. The Muzaffarnagar riot demonstrates the complete failure of the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party Government, which has seen the maximum number of communal flare-ups in recent times.
The Government has failed to maintain law and order and communal harmony in the State. Worse, many of the ruling party leaders, especially in rural areas, are alleged to have added fuel to the fire. This is utterly condemnable and these leaders should be identified and booked. Given the continuing violence in Muzaffarnagar, where more than 20 people are said to have been killed, the situation is right for imposing President's Rule in the State.
