This refers to the editorial, “Rahul Gandhi’s failures” (October 22). After a long association with the Congress, Rita Bahuguna Joshi finally parted ways and joined the BJP. She is a senior and respected leader who had been president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. Her comments after joining the BJP revealed the state of affairs in the grand old party. She said that she was disappointed with the functioning of the party’s leadership and that the Congress is now left to Prashant Kishor’s dictatorship.
Further, she has said that nobody takes Congress scion Rahul Gandhi as a leader seriously, and that she was hurt by his ‘khoon ki dalali’ comment. Joshi’s exit has exposed the Congress leaders from top to bottom, all of who sing paeans to Rahul Gandhi’s leadership but have no courage to speak the truth. Joshi spoke her heart out only after walking out of the Congress. Imposed leadership has its own consequences, and the Congress cannot be an exception.
