Revamp foreign policy

Sir — This refers to the editorial “Bold and brazen China” (April 25). The Chinese intrusion into 15 km of Indian territory, is a clear manifestation of the bellicose threat that looms large on our borders. China has all along been snubbing us, and our responses have been feeble, woefully inadequate and lacking in confidence.

The new provocation, among the reported 600 incursions that have happened in the recent past, should have evoked a strong response from the Congress-led UPA Government headed by Mr Manmohan Singh. It remains a mystery why New Delhi has not sent out a strong message urging Beijing to honour the line of Actual control. Such ineffectual responses only re-inforce the impression that the present Government is irresolute and lacks the competence, both politically and diplomatically, to outmanoeuvre China.

It is time that the Government realises the folly of its weak-kneed policies and mobilises resources and prepares to tackle any further challenges to its integrity, sovereignty and honour.
