Respect soldiers

Published on:

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Don’t shoot messenger” (January 14)”. Army chief General Bipin Rawat has made a timely statement that our soldiers should not be asked to do menial jobs for their officers. This practice has been followed since the colonial era. Army officers must shun this practice and treat our jawans honorably. They deserve due respect as they are doing a great sacrifice for our nation. On the other hand, soldiers must maintain discipline. It’s good that General Rawat has promised to entertain complaints personally.
