Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Sun to nations’ rescue” (December 1). It bodes well that India and France are the pioneers of a gargantuan mission of saving the only planet that we call ‘home’ from the detrimental effects of climate change. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s observation that the developed nations cannot pass the buck of reducing emissions on the developing nations alone is on the mark.
Also, the joint launch of the international solar alliance by Mr Modi and French President François Hollande, along with the $30 million assistance from India, will boost the mission. The renewal of renewable energy, increase in forest cover, per capita reduction in emissions and eco-friendly solutions will prove to be pragmatic in handling climate change issues. People too must cooperate.
