Sir — It is heartening to note that the Union Government and some of its functionaries took the initiative to honour our freedom- fighters and martyrs through newspaper-advertisements on March 23 this year, their martyrdom day. The Indian Postal Department feted Rajguru by issuing a commemorative stamp. This practice should be continued with added vigour in future too, and tributes should not be restricted to just a day.
The Government should take all steps to keep alive the memory of those freedom-fighters by educating and creating awareness about their great role in securing the nation’s independence and sacrificing their lives for the cause. It would help greatly to include chapters on the great sons and daughters of India in textbooks to educate our students.
