Regulating cricket

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Sense, not confrontation” (September 30). Mere warning is not enough for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)  to act on the directions of the lodha committee. If the BCCI has violated court’s orders, its office-bearers must be tried for contempt of court.

The Justice RM lodha panel had also required the Union Government to take a final call on bringing the BCCI under the purview of the Right to Information Act (RTI). But the Government has failed to do so.

When hockey is under the purview of the RTI Act, there is no reason why other sports bodies, including the super-rich BCCI and its affiliated State cricket associations, must not be under the Act.
