Refugee's religion

Sir — This refers to the article, “Remember that no man is an island” (September 10) by Hiranmay Karlekar. The photograph of Aylan Kurdi appears to have aroused the conscience of the international community. True, human misery has no religion.

The conflict in Syria, Iraq and the so-called ‘Islamic State’ is an intra-Islamic conflict.

One wonders, why are Muslim refugees seeking shelter in Europe and not in other Muslim countries in the region. Moreover, the Islamic nations do not show any interest in receiving co-religionists as refugees either. Such human tragedies need a holistic solution, irrespective of the faith of the victims.
