Sir — This refers to the article, “Modi can set the economy in order” (June 20) by Kalyani Shankar. Unless Government efficiency is increased, profligate state spending reduced, legal machinery improved so that it does not award gratuitous payments in an ad hoc manner, and of course, corruption considerably reduced, no one can fix India’s financial system. lavish spending on foreign trips and disastrous overseas investments also need to be checked.
