This refers to the report, “In U-turn, India cancels visa to Chinese dissident” (April 26). India was, perhaps, too quick to reverse its earlier decision of granting a visa to Dolkun Isa, a Chinese dissident based in Germany. Clearly, there must have been a serious flaw, be in timing, homework or policy in the first place. The summit-type diplomacy undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on day one did stir peoples’ imagination. Such personalised style must have been on seasoned advice, as Modi is too astute to appear fanciful in hard core diplomacy.
