Sir — When the ban on entry of scooters, motorbikes and four-wheelers into the beautiful Janpath market at Hazratganj was imposed in 2010-2011, residents of lucknow heaved a sigh of relief, hoping that the long-awaited ban would continue.
Alas! That hope was short-lived. The ban has been lifted, and this beautiful place once again resembles the regular chaotic, crowded market place in other parts of the city. Haphazardly parked small and big vehicles leave little room for pedestrians to manoeuvre their way around the market. We request the District Administration to re-impose the ban inside the market area between 11am and 9pm and construct speed-breakers, in the larger interest of the city and its iconic marketplace.
