Sir — This refers to the report, “CoBRA’s blood gives Maoist new lease of life” (February 1). Hats off to the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action commandos and the Central Reserve Police Force who have proved to be a perfect epitome of humanity in these acrimonious times, by saving one of their adversaries’ life. The man was on a killing mission and was a Maoist in the jungles of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh.
The jawans not only took the injured Maoist linga Sodi on foot to a Government hospital in Jagdalpur but also instantly volunteered to donate blood to save the life of a person who was on the prowl to kill them before triggering an IED blast that was followed by heavy firing as well. Really, it is a rarest of rare case of turning a foe into a friend.
