Raising questions

Published on:

This refers to the report, “Cong, AAP stoke suicide rage” (November 3). The story of the death of an ex-serviceman and the drama enacted by leaders from the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, notoriously sensationalised by the electronic media, has raised many questions which may never be

impartially communicated to the audience.

Setting this aside, a few question needs to be answered before another suicide story takes the centre-stage in the mainstream media with a wagon of wild allegations against the BJP.

Is ending one’s life an act of bravery or mental disturbanceIJ Does an act of suicide offer solution to the problemsIJ Does the presentation of suicidal incidents in the mainstream media not provide an impetus to the abetment of suicidal tendenciesIJ Does abetment to suicide not amount to a cognizable offenceIJ The society in general and the mainstream media in particular must give a serious thought to these issues .
