Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Not a private railway” (December 27). Prime Minister Narendra Modi has to be complimented for allaying the apprehensions of the railway workers on the issue of privatisation. As he has indicated, foreign direct investment will come only in certain key areas because public funds have other priority sectors like health and education. Indian Railways badly needs funds to chug on, and there is no harm if private players are allowed to have some say.
