Rahul's exit routes

Sir — This refers to the article, “Confused and getting others confused, too”, (March 19) by A Surya Prakash. In analysing the “confused” and “confusing” observations of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi regarding his prime ministerial candidature — which has been enthusiastically endorsed by Congress leaders and party workers — the writer has rightly argued that the Nehru-Gandhi scion has clearly evolved an exit policy for himself. He is, in effect, shying away from an electoral confrontation with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who will be the man to watch out for in 2014.
It seems like there is a consensus that Mr Gandhi is not politically savvy, that he lacks the capability and the experience to successfully challenge Mr Modi, if the latter becomes the NDA’s prime ministerial candidate.
