Rahul's anti-Modi obsession went too far

This refers to the report, “Coca-Cola founder ‘shikanji' seller, says Rahul” (June 12). In his relentless and compulsive campaign to malign Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a dismal failure, Rahul Gandhi is using bizarre examples of Coca-Cola and McDonald founders, starting originally as ‘shikanji' and ‘dhaba' walas succeeding as entrepreneurs, whereas, small Indian entrepreneurs with skill and talent, are being ignored by the Modi Government. He is only supporting a few big corporate cronies with bank funds, Rahul alleged. Addressing a convention of OBC workers of the Congress, Gandhi sought to emphasise the point that the Modi Government did not provide the right opportunities to backward classes with entrepreneurial drive.

Rahul Gandhi is clearly suffering from a short memory: Not too long ago, he mocked Modi as a “chaiwala” and “pakoda wala”; now, he is singing paeans for American ‘shikanji walas' and ‘dhaba walas'. Problem with Rahul Gandhi is his fondness for superficiality and dubious information. How can we forget tens of thousands of former untouchables who are currently occupying posts of Ministers, a few chief ministers, MPs, MlAs and top bureaucratsIJ

A classic example of Rahul's anti-Modi obsession was witnessed on television channels when after his appearance in a Bhiwandi court to face the defamation charge linking Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in his speech in 2014, when it was dismissed years ago by the courts, he asserted that he was ready to face all sorts of cases charged against him but his campaign to expose Modi's “failures” would continue.
