Rahul underconfident

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “In the waiting room” (November 15). Impartially speaking, the continuing proscrastination in Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’'s elevation to the post of party president is not going down well with the young leader’s fans, party cadres and workers, votaries and voters even if the party leadership is awaiting a propitious opportunity — like a big win to say — to announce his anointment. This is sending a message of an uncalled for demur, hinting at apprehension of sorts to take on its prime rival, the BJP in the ensuing Assembly elections to several States. I agree with the opinion expressed in the editorial that Rahul Gandhi should take the reins of the Congress leadership cofidently as win or lose, both are a part and parcel of any democratic electoral process.
