This refers to the article, “The curious case of Rahul Gandhi” (February 27) by Kalyani Shankar. Evidently, the gameplan is to allow the Congress vice president to slash and chop, so that he can put ‘his’ team in place, a team which already has not only failed to yield any dividend, but has proved ineffectual in election after election. He needs to lead by example, as his grandmother did under adversity.
Trimming the party of elders and seniors with whom Mr Gandhi has had an uncomfortable equation, is not going to help. These leaders are well-entrenched both politically and within the Congress. They are capable of causing damage, even if they can’t contribute positively.
