Sir — The scale of devastation caused by the earthquake in Nepal must sound an alarm bell for Indian cities which are vulnerable to such calamities and at a great risk of crumbling if a high-intensity earthquake strikes. Also, the poor quality of most urban constructions in India has led to an imbalance between environment and development. This imbalance can be corrected by planting more trees, which in turn will make our cities greener and prevent landslides.
