Sir — Ms Devyani Khobragade’s insult happened in the public domain. Hence, India’s retaliation against the US had to be public. This is the only language that America understands. The author has analysed the US psyche erroneously. The super-power only respects those who stands up to it ‘publicly’.
This public episode will eventually make India an equal partner of the US, like the very public nuclear tests of 1998 did.
