Provocative conduct

Sir — This refers to the report, “Unfazed Pakistani envoy stokes fire” (August 20). After having a meeting with Kashmiri separatist Shabir Ahmad Shah on Monday, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India, Mr Abdul Basit, again showed audacity by meeting three more Kashmiri separatists the following day, despite the Foreign Secretaries’ meeting being cancelled by India in protest. 

BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has rightly said that meetings with Kashmiri separatists and also Foreign Secretary level talks with India cannot co-exist. As a new Government has taken charge in New Delhi, a unique and special message was required to be sent to Pakistan. India has done what any self-respecting nation should have.
