Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Jails must be made safer” (March 13). Well, my suggestion is to create a jail within a jail and label it ‘safe jail’! Ideally, every cell where hardcore criminals are incarcerated, must have a hook to the ceiling. These criminals are too dangerous to society and are best locked up.
The basic purpose of a jail sentence is to deter people from committing crimes and indulging in anti-social activities, by handing out severe punishment. Ironically here, criminals want to be protected. God bless the country where saints are crucified and sinners pacified.
