This refers to the report, “MHA asks states to crack down on cow vigilantes” (August 10). The Union Home Ministry has done the desirable by issuing advisory to all States to implement strict laws to tackle the groups of self-styled gau rakshaks.
However, in the cities, none is bothered about cows with packaged milk available at the doorstep. Hungry cows roam about eating whatever is available on the streets, including insoluble polythene bags, causing death of many. Genuine gau raksha organisations must take care of uncared-for cows and disown the groups bringing bad name to them.
